I'll update this review more once I've finished the game.” Another player says, “Buy this game if: + You're looking for an unusual tower defense game using upgradable traps to fight hordes of enemies in real-time while being a frail and slow-moving young dwarf + You prefer short, hectic hasty combat rather than longer and strategic planning before and during enemy waves + You're looking for a good challenge even on "normal" difficulty setting.”īuy Dwerve on sale just on gamecamp. The positives outweigh the negatives but I'm still disappointed so far.
#Dwerve game traps upgrade#
I haven't found a way to upgrade Dwerve personally yet (health, damage, more dash charges, etc) which I was surprised by. I've been locked out of exploring because a gate blocked me after I took a 'wrong' turn and progressed the level, preventing me from accessing chests and the like, which is incredibly frustrating. Just hope that the crystals get back to you in time to place another trap. You only have four trap slots and I don't want to have to dedicate one to compensating for one enemy unit, especially when the bear trap has a lifespan and is often triggered by other units, meaning that the big trolls get to stroll up and one-shot things anyway. These issues are massively exacerbated by the trolls that one-shot any turret.

I also really hate the traps that self-destruct after a duration because you can't walk through your other traps to replace them. The traps are reasonably satisfying when they are in action but they are super fragile (even when upgraded), which is a problem because placing traps is quite clunky (at least as far as I've figured out with a controller). Controller support needs more work before it can be called 'full controller support' as I am unable to use the controller to get past the start menu. It's super pretty but could use a few more quality-of-life passes. The user, who rated this game the highest rank, shares his opinion, “I backed this on Kickstarter.
